Mmmmm
Mother’s Day dinner was yummy… ‘roasted’ red potatoes with rosemary & garlic, bbq country-style pork ribs and asparagus (Ian eats all of the asparagus tips, oddly enough). Carla is giving Ian a bath, and I was just sitting here playing Fallout 3 while drinking a 1988 Château Léoville Barton. It’s that last part that I found a little odd. I just don’t picture much of the gaming community drinking 21 year old Bordeaux. Usually I picture Teh Gaming Community (I actually mistyped ‘teh’ for real, and was about to fix it, but enh..) not being 21, but I guess that’s not really true. Anyway… today was a good day. We went to a new park, transplanted some hanging plants, mowed the yard, had spectacular weather for all of it, and topped it off with a tasty meal and some good wine. Somehow I get the impression that Monday is going to be a bit of a letdown.
No!
… although in this particular case ‘no!’ really means snow… he just doesn’t seem to have the ’s’ sound quite yet.
I’m not certain how excited he was to be standing in all that snow… he liked it much better when I was holding him and he could sweep his hands through the piles on the railing (behind) and the cars in the driveway.
Either way, it seemed like a popular morning activity before heading out to daycare.
NoVA is weird…
I mean… it’s 60 degrees in December, we had one snow in February, it lasted ~16 hours before it started raining, then overnight it froze and turned into ice everywhere. The ice lasted another week before it was fully melted. Now here it is, March 1, and we get this:
Arlington Alert @ Sun, Mar 1, 2009 at 9:00 AM
The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning for Arlington County in effect from 2pm today through 2pm Monday, March 2. Based on the current storm track, 6-10 inches of snow can be expected with gusty winds overnight into Monday morning. Please take appropriate precautions and monitor local forecasts for storm updates.
Now, this is a weather forcast, so I don’t actually expect it to be completely true, but I did wake up this morning (at 0630 thanks to Ian) to a light snow on the ground.
